Japonism Broome is a small scale version of Japanese cultural art and craft.
Tomoko Yamada who is a Japanese born fibre installation artist is organising Japonism Broome. Broome has a very strong Japanese influence with the pearling industry dating back to 1880's. Tomoko shows respect for the hanging down of beautiful Japanese culture by creating Japonism Broome, with a range of products featuring Calligraphy art, Washi Jewellery, Orizuru (folded paper crane) and Shibori.
All products are handmade by Tomoko, using her wide knowledge of cultural Japanese paper (Washi) and heritage patterns of Kimono fabrics with her traditional establishment technique.
She will introduce Japanese tradition and process via her range.
They are available at Broome Courthouse Markets every weekends.
Thank you for respecting our culture.... Arigatou!
